iBatis 3.0

Lecture: iBatis 3.0
Lecturer: Ing. Jan Novotný, Senior Java Developer, FG Forrest Inc..
Date & time: May 3, 2010, 18:00–20:00
Venue: Balling hall, Technical Library, Prague
Language: Czech

Abstract of the lecture: iBatis is a framework for mapping of data in relational database to Java objects. iBatis is already for several years an interesting alternative to object-relational mapping frameworks based on JPA (typically represented by Hibernate). Motto of iBatis is to simplify developer’s work with database and at the same time remain as easy as possible. It is just simplicity and low level access to database which iBatis beats other frameworks by. At the workshop, you will have an opportunity to try iBatis 3 which was just released. Besides the news in iBatis we will try integration with the Spring framework 3.1. Both of these still don’t have stable versions, so the news are really hot.

During the workshop, there will be a competition for one license of the IntelliJ Idea 9 Ultimate Edition development environment.

Entrance requirements: It is enough to have common knowledge of Java, SQL, and JUnit. Everybody should have their notebook with any Java IDE, JDK 1.6, and Maven. Even though the materials will be available in place, I recommend to download them through the GIT client from git://github.com/novoj/iBatisWorkShop.git or as ZIP archive from (select Download sources in menu). Further detail will be published at the blog.
