FIT Informatics Evenings - lecture

The FIT Informatics Evenings is a lecture series organised by the Faculty of Information Technology, CTU. The lectures cover various fields of informatics. Lectures of Czech and foreign experts are aimed at students, academic staff, IT professionals, and the public interested in information technology. The lectures are held in the Czech or English language.

Some lectures are being recorded. Some English lectures can be found in the video archive of the FIT lectures, which is accessible after login with the CTU password. In addition, selected English lectures are publicly available on the faculty YouTube channel.

Current Semester

Lectures are being held irregularly on Mondays from 18:00 to ca. 19:00 in the New Building CTU, in the T9:107 auditorium. Entrance is free of charge, no registration is required. Lectures are mostly held in the Czech language.

Mar. 25, 2019 — Jim Fenton: User Authentication—Passwords and Beyond
Jim Fenton, a leading expert on user-centric identity and Internet privacy, is presenting a lecture on the widest-deployed way of authenticating users—about passwords. He will describe their advantages and disadvantages or the possibilities of supplementing them. The lecture takes place from 19:00.

Previous Semesters

The FIT Informatics Evenings lecture series is being organised since the establishment of the faculty. Over one hundred of lectures was organised. All English lectures from previous years can be found in a complete archive.


The lectures are organised by the Faculty of Information Technology, CTU. They are located in the New Building CTU—Thákurova 9, Prague 6—in the auditorium T9:107. For more information contact the Office of Public Relations.
